Week 5

This week in English I learned that some people are crazy and will go out of their way to make people believe things that’s are false so that they can get what they want. This was shown in the crucible where Abigail saw the needle in Betty’s doll and decided to place a needle in her own so that it made people believe that Elizabeth was a witch and stabbed Abigail through a doll when none of this actually happened. Abigail did this to herself so that Elizabeth would be in jail and Abigail would have John proctor all to herself because they had an affair and she liked him but he was married. This idea of people going to extreme extents to get their way can be reflected upon today’s times. Back then during the time of the crucible and now, people are selfish to the point where they would do the most bizzare things to prove a point which shows that people are more worried about themselves than others. Like in the crucible, Abigail is more worried about her name and her relation with proctor than any others around her like Elizabeth who is going to jail and Betty who's going to get in trouble for making the doll in the first place and then having to confess the truth. I find it interesting how people will go to certain lengths to get what they want because they are so selfish and petty that they must always get their way. Lying about something isn’t as bad as putting a needle through your stomach to get someone to believe. That is extremely crazy
