This week in English, our class mostly focused on the American Dream. The Dream is a thing that has been around for a long time, it can be defined as the ideal that every US citizen should be able to attain equal opportunity to achieve success and prosperity through hard work and determination. Many people have a different state of mind while attaining the dream. Some believe that it should be through attaining as much materialistic items as possible and having the most money as possible so they can live their best life while others may see the dream as getting a good education, having a job that they love, and a family to love. The dream can be a range of ideas for everyone. For example, my parents version of the American Dream was to come to America after marriage to get good jobs here and to raise a family here and with time and dedication this was possible for them. Although they were able to achieve their dream, some people are not able to because with some of their actions they don’t see the consequences that may come with it. In class I read this article about this man who came to America from another country to pursue his dreams and was able to but eventually he was sent back to his country because he was not careful with his actions and took advantage of some of his freedom which did not end up in his favor. Although the American Dream may seem like it has no limits, that isn not very true, it has a certain extent which a person can reach.
