During this week of English, we were asked to take our knowledge of liberty that learned from the past and reflect it back upon current times. As a whole, we related liberty to the Anthem Protests and the Nike Commercial which were both very controversial topics in today's times because of Kaepernick, the football player who started the kneeling during the Anthem. During the middle of the week, each student was asked to develop 2 questions regarding liberty to use during a Socratic seminar. I found this seminar very insightful because we were able to see how each person viewed liberty and different situations regarding liberty as well. One thing that was said during the discussion was about a job position as a CEO in California and 4 applications were finalists. The 4 finalists included 3 men and 1 woman. When I first heard this, I initially assumed this was because males are usually offered more jobs when it comes to the professional world but later on it was said that more males applied rather than females so naturally there were few times where a female could have been picked for a finalist spot. This was surprising because after the declaration of sentiments was established, I thought woman would feel like they could pursue anything they wanted without being scared to achieve their goals but in today's time, women still don’t feel completely comfortable going out into the world and becoming successful because of past events.

I think it's interesting that you thought about WHY women didn't apply for the job and how even with the changing times, roots remain the same
